Doomy, emotional and melancholic is the best way to describe the music of ‘Cemetery Of Scream’. On their latest release, ‘Prelude To A Sentimental Journey’, they succeeded in making a sensitive album that penetrates the soul. The stirring riffs and melodies, combined with clean vocals and grunts, make up a well balanced album. The grunts remind me of ‘Crematory’, but especially the clean, melodious parts are the parts that appeal to me the most. In songs like ‘Haila’ or ‘Bridge To A Desert’ the clean vocals are well used. There is another version of ‘Prelude to a Sentimental Journey’ which contains the bonus track ‘Radioactive Toy’, a cover of a song of ‘Porcupine Tree’. Although the many intro’s and intermezzo’s are quite a bit exaggerated, they contribute to the special ambiance on the album.

"Cemetery Of Scream” is no newcomer in the world of metal. This Polish band was started in 1992 and before ‘Prelude To A Sentimental Journey’ they have released two full-length records, ‘Melancholy’ and ‘Deeppression’, and an MCD ‘Fin De Siecle’. For more information about these albums, check their website: www.cemetery.of.scream.of.pl. The band also made a video-clip for the track ‘Anxiety’, which was released on the video compilation entitled ‘Beauty in Darkness’ by Nuclear Blast. Don’t judge this album too soon. Give it a chance and listen to it more than once. You’ll discover more and more each time.
