Wow, Manowars new CD-single was recorded in Hell. Sounds impressive. Joey DeMaio finally finished his home studio, called, with Manowars usual sense of subtlety, Hell.
The single is the first taste of their new album, Warriors Of The World, of which a review will appear on Rockezine soon.
Warriors Of The World United is a great song, combining the familiar Manowar-style with an up-to-date sound. Manowar has not forgotten its roots but does not renounce more modern approaches to music, thus taking the best of both worlds and creating a song that is unmistakably Manowar, a heavy, groovy Manowar.
I loved DeMaio’s heavier than heavy bass-riff. Eric Adams shows he not only has the classic heavy metal high, strong voice; but can also groan in threatening anger. The refrain will be a favorite singalong at concerts, and lots of fists will be raised, including mine, I’ll just forgive them for calling me “brother”. | |
In the middle of the song is a quiet break with Eric telling us what we should do should he come to perish in his battle for metal, but soon the song picks up again to let everyone know neither Eric nor Manowar-metal is anywhere near death.
Why buy this single along with the new album? Well, first because you can’t wait till May 27, when the album is due, second ‘cause it has two live-tracks, March For Revenge (By The Soldiers Of Death) and Carry On, both recorded at the Gods Of Metal-festival in Italy on 6-6-1999; third because when you stick the thing in your computer you get to see the live-videos of those tracks, and, most special, you can click to a secret website only accessible via this CD. A must-have for fans!
