This is fun. Red Aim just wants to rock and have a good time. And they want us listeners to have a good time too. Their Kyuss and Karma To Burn influenced desert rock sounds pretty authentic. Not that there are any deserts in their home country Germany but hey, who cares? Red Aim certainly doesn`t! ` Rock `n` Roll is good for me alright!` they sing in El Gonzo Mondial. And it is. Because Red Aim doesn`t take it all too seriously. Sure, their music is well played, well written and grooves like hell, but the lyrics and vocals are downright insane. In a very positive way. My Lovely Mister Singing Club for example sounds like Kyuss and the Bee Gees jamming while being high on XTC and laughing gas. | |
Very cool indeed. Red Aim have been around for quite a while now. Their self-produced debut mini-album is from 1996. Meanwhile they played with bands like 7Zuma7, Fu Manchu and even In Extremo. What seperates them from the big stoner crowd is their contageous humor combined with seriously good stonerrock`n`roll. It`s a pity though that almost every song on this album has some kind of twist. It becomes too much of a gimmick after 50 minutes. A couple of more serious songs would have made a big difference. But overall it`s a very good album. Stonerrock plus. That`s what it is. (Walter) |
