Gothic rock with female vocals from Norway. Theatre Of Tragedy one could easily think. But The Crest are a different breed. Deeply rooted in the 80`s UK gothic (Sister Of Mercy, Mission, All About Eve) but with today`s Goth rock (e.g. Moonspell). The music has a lot of variation and never bores for a second. The gothic anthems (`Fire Walk With Me`, `Childhood`s End`) are interluded with slower songs (`Butterflies and Dragons`, `Pills For Broken Dreams`) that show the more vulnerable side. | |
The core of The Crest (singer Nell and guitarist/programmer Kristian) started in 1996 but it took them till 1999 to get a more stable line-up and develop today`s result (although they still don`t have a drummer). Singer Nell has a very nice and strong voice but it sounds so vulnerable sometimes, fitting perfectly to the music. They definitely touched my magic spot.
