This Polish outfit has been a stable force in the death metal scene for many years. Their endless tours have brought Vader all over the world and made them a formidable live act. I have seen them so many times that I stopped counting. ‘Revelations’ is Vader’s first album with new bassist Simon who replaced Shambo. To be honest, I’m a bit disappointed. First, there is less emphasis on blasts. Call me narrow minded, but in my opinion Vader are at their best when they blast full speed ahead. Second, the riffs are predictable and sometimes even a bit boring. And third, it seems like some songs are based on older Vader songs, like ‘The Nomad’. It reminds me a lot of ‘Xeper’ from their ‘Litany’ album.

And I have that feeling with more songs on this album. On the other hand, ‘Whisper’ is a great song with some very cool guest vocals from Behemoth singer Nergal. And the guitar melody at the end of the last song ‘Revelation Of Black Moses’ even has that special eerie Immolation-like feel to it. With it’s 7:06 minutes it is probably the longest song Vader have ever written. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a bad album. Vader consists of good and experienced musicians, especially drummer Doc. But to me ‘Revelations’ sounds uninspired... The limited edition digipack includes a bonus track.
