Though this is the seventh album from these seven German musicians, I had never heard of them before. My loss! It took me a while to get used to Eric Fish’s voice, but after that I could enjoy this album thoroughly. Opening with Burundi drum rhythms is never a bad thing in my book, especially not when they`re followed by dynamic songs in which a wide variety of instruments and musical tastes are combined. Expect medieval-like songs with flutes, violin and lute, expect German and Latin lyrics and also expect Pantera-like guitarriffs and not being able to sit still. | |
Most of the eleven songs on this albums invite you to dance, especially opener “Die Schlacht”, the Celtic-sounding “Veitstanz” and the techno-like “Kleid Aus Rosen” (the acoustic version of this song ends the album), while there’s also room for beautiful harmonious ballads like “Herrin des Feuers” and “Wenn Engel Hassen”, which is a quiet rocksong with the enchanting sound of a harp in it. Sehr schön! (Nancy) |
