The minute you put the CD of this Dutch band in your CD player, you hear the resemblance with the Goo Goo Dolls and the Dutch band Bløf. Poppy rock that’s sometimes hard like in ‘Land van nooit’, ‘Vrij’ and ‘Waardeloos’, and sometimes soft. The voice of Marcel Geven, the singer, fits in just right with this sound. It is also hard when it’s supposed to be, and soft at the more sensitive songs, like ‘De laatste pijl’ and ‘De ware’. It is kind of strange to hear this sound and then hear Dutch lyrics, but after you get used to it, it gives an extra dimension to the songs. | |
This isn’t just another pop/rock band with this sound that sings in English. They’re different in this way.
Crystal Dream consists of 5 men from the east of Holland. The name Crystal Dream comes from the movie “Harley Davidson and the Marlboroman”. This is their first CD, but they have been playing live together for nine years. They have really been able to develop their sound, and make a good team, and this can be heard on the CD!
