Founded early 2000 by ex-Terra Nova-frontman Fred Hendrix, Aquila have released their first CD ‘Say yeah’. The CD contains a variety of catchy rock songs and poppy ballads. The choruses of most songs urge you to start singing along immediately. This is due to the fact that the lyrics are quite simple. However, there isn’t much variety in the songs themselves. In the first few seconds you can already hear what kind of song it will be, and several songs, such as ‘Cecelia’, ‘Wide open’ and ‘Young and restless’, also sound a lot like each other: intro, some singing, chorus, guitar solo, some more singing, chorus, end.

Luckily there are some songs that do sound different than the rest, such as ‘Say yeah’ and ‘The Kids Wanna Rock’, and that is why I still rate this CD a 6.
