This release of DAS ICH reminds me mostly of the latest creation of Mortiis. The collaboration between Bruno Kramm (music, instruments and production) and Stefan Ackermann (lyrics and vocals) however results in an even higher level. DAS ICH uses more and different influences throughout this record. You can hear from the quality that this band exists since 1989. The combination between industrial and gothic works wonderfully well. The typical (Mortiis-like) voice of Stefan and the variety of different sounds from Stefan create a complete album. It’s probably the most accessible album so far from these Germans, but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy album.

From opener ‘Engel’ until the last song ‘Der Achte Tag’ DAS ICH creates a dark and almost threatening atmosphere. Highlights are songs like the melancholic ‘Heimzeit’, the threatening ‘Grund Der Seele’, the bombast of ‘Vater’, the pounding blast beats of ‘Krieg In Paradies’, the merciless ‘Tot Zur Hölle’, the quiet darkness of ‘Garten Eden’, the willful ‘Sodom And Gomorra’ and the scary whispering of ‘Der Achte Tag’ that ends with a surprising soundscape. The CD is completed with a video of ‘Re_animat’ and shows that both members of DAS ICH have changed their outfit into an “Anti’Christ” way… It completes the almost perfect picture…
