Some things in life are darker than black. Like the music of Primordial. If you’ve ever seen them live on stage you know what they stand for; no gimmicks, no tough and true facade, just heavy, pure and epic dark metal that is bursting with emotions. Their intense energy radiates from the stage, and the pounding drums feed the songs with raw power. They define what `primordial metal` should sound like on their latest album "Storm Before Calm". It has an unmistakable British melancholic sound, great melodies and is honest and intense. The vocals of Nemtheanga are pure and full of emotion.

The lyrics are like poems and, among other things, based on their rich Irish culture. The songs are perfectly balanced; neither too long nor too short. Every one of them has a melody or riff that stands out, making the album very nice to listen to as you flow along on the gloomy atmosphere until the end. Summarized "Storm Before Calm" is an epic dark metal album that will probably appeal to dark, doom and black fans alike. If you love Opeth, elder Aeternus, elder Anathema, Bathory or are already familiar with the older Primordial-albums, be sure to listen to this one.
