This German band plays what I usually call “heavy metal by the book”. Standard up-tempo metal with strong tight riffs and excellent vocals, but lacking a bit in the field of originality. By playing all songs in a well-known and trusted heavy metal-formula you make sure that nothing bad can be said about the cd, but you miss the opportunity to be outstanding. And that is a pity in the case of Iron Savior. The band consists of five very skilled musicians who are not new to the scene, and prove that they can stand their ground easily even without heavy-metal legend and former guitarist of the band Kai Hansen in their ranks. Technically it is all perfect, including the production (as it should be, ‘cause Piet Sielck, singer-songwriter-guitarist is a sound engineer and producer), and the songs are strong, reminding (of course) of Helloween, Gamma Ray and sometimes Judas Priest (listen to the Mindfeeder).

Piet Sielck has got a good imagination, as the “story” on their website shows: Iron Savior is not only the name of this band, but also the name of a powerful machine in a sci-fi-story Piet has thought up and which features as a theme on Iron Savior albums. So I only wish that he would some time wander off the safe beaten track and see where his imagination and the skill and expertise of his musicians would lead them... I think that is why, though the album is filled with good songs, the unexpected cover of Seals “Crazy” (with awesome bass play!) was most to my liking.
