The electronic junk punk of this BABYLAND is pretty original for the current electro scene. Although the combination between punk and electro isn’t new, BABYLAND has the ability to sound melancholic and ‘funny’ at the same time. The band starts off this album brilliantly with punk songs like ‘Mask’ and (the more rock/industrial orientated) ‘Youth Choker’. The biggest advantage is the band’s spontaneity. It’s also their weakest point, because the record sometimes gets on your nerves.

The surprise is however the melancholic, quiet songs like ‘The Door Northern’ and ‘Sophomore’. In those songs you hear that this band absolutely has got the ability to do so much more than cyberpunk. Another highlight is the absolutely ‘no-nonsense’ song ‘Double Coupon’. It’s a direct hit. People who are into the strange sounds of the early Filter should find something of their liking. But that’s no promise, because BABYLAND is more punk, chaotic structured than that…
