“…and your heart black and full of hate”. You could start your CD friendlier. The threatening intro of this CD with opening track ‘Pandemonium’ should be warning enough. HOCICO rules! No escape for the weak. Heavy pounding beats and distorted vocals put these Mexicans right between the likes of :Wumpscut: or Suicide Commando. Second song ‘Instincts Of Perversion’ gives insight in what HOCICO stands for. Heavy music with a groove that will keep people on the dance floor. The band also creates songs with a beginning and an end. It’s not that they are only straightforwardly pushing out their beats. They surely like long and intense intros for their songs. Actually the band keeps this tension until ‘Un Alma Y El Vaclo’. | |
That song is a good instrumental. That’s also a strong point of this band that they can create great instrumentals (listen to the ‘quiet’ ‘Child’s Eternity’ as well). But after that the band seem to lose their grip a little. The songs don’t go bad, but the tension and depth of the earlier songs is gone. Maybe it’s because the band made such a great impression during the first songs that it’s almost impossible to keep that level of creating devastating industrial till the end of the album. Still, if you’re into industrial then you have to have this CD in your collection. There are still some brutal classics on this one… (Beautevil) |
