It’s always an emotional moment when a band leaves the music scene. DIE ART has been on for a while (since 1986), but decided to quit. This German punk/rock band was pretty famous in their country, but beyond the border they are rather unknown. That’s maybe because the band sings mostly in German and otherwise with a clearly German accented English. When they started it was not yet common for bands singing in German to have success outside their own country. The music is pretty pleasant though. DIE ART does not make artistic difficult songs, but nice to listen to rock/punk songs. This album is filled with well written songs. It’s just a pity that when I finally find out about this band they don’t exist anymore.

The production of this record maintains the typical live atmosphere and for a band that calls it quits they are pretty enthusiastic in playing their songs. This album has definitely got a positive vibe and it creates a well fitting end. If you like punk/rock as it used to be than DIE ART could have been the answer. Now there’s only the memory and eleven CD’s (including this one). Songs like ‘My Colour Is Black’ and ‘Iron Ivy’ show that this band had the balls to fit in with all the others. Probably died by the current competition in the punk rock scene, but who knows… There’s always time for a reunion in the future.
