By joined forces, Web (guitars), Joris (bass), Dol (drums) and Zahrim (vocals/ guitars) have released a great black metal album. They call their child ‘In Obscure Depths’. When listening to this album one name comes to mind; Immortal. The grasping vocals and dissonant, but melodic, guitars sure sound familiar. These are the ingredients that make me like Immortal. Although the throat of Abbath can’t be exceeded, Zahrim does quite a good job. Maybe his vocals are a bit monotonous, but that’s not disturbing. This album seems to ravish on in up-tempo, leaving nothing but noise behind, but when you listen closely to this album, many interesting things can be discovered. The guitars are very melodic, and once again I must refer to Immortal.

Yet, Panchrysia does not copy Immortal, they have quite a sound of their own. The artwork for ‘In Obscure Depths’ is by Johnny Cocktail. He has done this in a very modern way, remember the Zyklon cover for ‘World ov worms’. The only thing I don’t like is the boring outro, I don’t want to listen to a preaching man for four and a half minutes. But don’t let this spoil our darkest pleasures, for ‘In Obscure Depths’ is a release of the highest art. This album shall overflow the dark mind with emotion, anger and darkness. For the ones that like modern black metal, and especially Immortal, this album is obligatory. Let ‘In Obscure Depths’ see the light of day, for it will collide in the heart of man.
