“Dialogue With Mirror And God” is the debut full-length album of this six-piece band, emerged from the frosty grounds of Finland. It is the successor of the mcd “Ad Mortem” released in December 1999. In countries where for more than half the year the temperature is far below zero, you can expect an album like this one to come out. It is filled with melodramatic songs with melancholic vocals, performed by L-J Sjöblom Although it’s not always fair to label a new-comer band, the comparison with bands such as Sentenced (tracks like “Without You” & “Night Descents”), Moonspell (“Dialogue With Mirror And God”) and My Dying Bride (“X76”) immediately flashes through my mind.

That doesn’t mean however that these songs are exact copies of the aforementioned bands. Lost In Tears have managed to create a rather own style, maybe due to the three guitar players who will provide you with beautiful serene melodies. A track like “Souls In Flames”, which is one of my favorites, captures the diversities in styles in one song by using clean vocals alternated with grunts, excellent! Too bad the production of this album is only moderate; but it’s an impressive debut by these Finnish metallers, and I hope to see them perform live across Europe in the near future.
