The latest addition to the Dutch roster of "female singers" is a twenty-some year-old girl that goes under the moniker of MEG. Born as Marieke Eijkenaar van Grimbergen, she’s been raised in the same city that also spawned Anouk into the scene: The Hague. With "My Kitchen", this is her first official release for the outside world. The sampler contains the single (`My Kitchen`), originally written by the Swedish Lindebergh, and an acoustic version of the same song.

`My Kitchen` clearly shows a girl with a good voice; compared to Anouk it is more focused towards technicality instead of emotion. The lyrics however don’t strike me as the best example of intelligence and catchiness. Perhaps if she would write her lyrics herself (with the help of others) we might see some improvement. Nonetheless, "My Kitchen" is a good effort and we’ll probably hear more from MEG in the future.
