Here’s a progressive/melodic rock band that can be mentioned in one go with a bands like Rhapsody.
Their fifth album “Bridge” contains a large variety of strong, yet emotional songs, such as “Travelling Shoes” and the instrumental “Puppet Show”.
The CD starts off with what sounds like the sound of Christmas Bells, but as this title song, ‘Bridge’ proceeds, it develops into a more mysterious tune that flows over into the second track, ‘Across the Land’.
The songs do not only have a great variety between them, but also in them. They go from easy to loud, to very emotional. The brilliant keyboard and guitar playing of singer Oliver Phillips contributes to that, and makes me rate this CD at an 8. | |
Also, the artwork in the booklet is brilliant. It was done by one of Australia’s most famous painters, Gregory Bridges (hence the name). The booklet also contains a letter of apology to Mr. Billy Joel for using some of his chords in the title song ‘Bridge’, and ends by offering Mr. Joel free use of any of the tunes on this album.
Everon do not only play well, but they also have humour. I’m sure we’ll hear much more from them. In the meantime, this is a good album to listen to while waiting for more. (Gonneke) |
