Most of us know Jonah Matranga as the singer/songwriter from New End Original and the former singer/songwriter from Far. The music he writes under this alias differs somewhat from his two other bands. Whereas Far and NEO play modern rock (did I hear somebody say “emo”?), Onelinedrawing is more about emotion without the big riffs. So if you crave those big rocking emo guitars, check out Jonah’s other bands. If you’re into beautifully crafted, intimate singer/songwriter material with the amplifiers turned down, then this is something you should really give a try.

Stripped down to the bare essentials, almost all of the 11 tracks are acoustic with Matranga playing all instruments (including piano). All of his songs sound personal; sometimes uplifting like in “Bitte Ein Kuss” or “Smile” (with a sampled ‘guest-appearance’ by Star Wars’ Artoo-Detoo), and with a lot of melancholy. If you want music with emotional depth, this album is highly recommended. For me “Visitor” is beauty with a capital “B.”
