I personally am a great fan of artists like Joe Stump, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Frank Zappa and so on. But only on one condition. Everything has to be performed well, and if possible, original. War & Peace has neither of these two conditions. The music is very cliche and certainly isn`t that well performed. Standard bass and guitar riffs. This isn`t original in any way. Very sad. The only thing that sounds great are the guitar solo`s on some of the songs. But that isn`t that strange when you get the help of guitarists as John Norum, Richie Kotzen and Paul Gilbert. The entire release is a rip-off from other well-established bands. | |
"The Night You Walked Away" (phew, what a title) intro seems to be borrowed from Alice in Chains, "Wrong Place Wrong Time" seems to be stolen from the legendary band Whiplash. Shall I continue…? Sad lyrics, song titles, standard riffs, predictable vocal parts, bad production and even the artwork seems to be a rip-off. Look at the figure on the back. That certainly looks like the Priest logo. Oh, men sometimes reviewing can be hard. Anyway, Jeff, start directing musicals again and leave the rock and heavy-metal scene alone. (Teun) |
