This is 77:21 minutes of pure dark wave pleasure. This limited edition contains three extra sons. Two remixes of ‘The Curse’, ‘AmoK’ and a stranger version of ‘Rebellion’ under the name of ‘Stranger Than Rebellion’. Have to admit that DIARY OF DREAMS is in brilliant condition during this album. Perfectly written, easy to listen to wave songs from start to finish. The man at the wheel is of course Adrian Hates. He’s not only responsible for the production and the music, but he’s the man with that typical low voice. It’s typical for the growth into maturity that Adrian even experiments with his voice during ‘Rebellion’, because you can consider his ‘one of a kind’ voice the trademark of DIARY OF DREAMS. | |
Even during a ballad like ‘Verdict’ Adrian finds the courage to use a higher note than we are used to hearing from him. The end result of “Freak Perfume” is therefore what could be expected: a beautiful statement of an emotional and melancholic soul. Sometimes the songs are danceable, but always with that moody feeling beneath it. There is only one qualification, got to have this… (Beautevil) |
