The debut album of PLASTIC is a combination of EBM, electro and synth pop. Especially when the (pleasant) vocals of Matthias Ewald are combined with the warmth and emotion of Tina Le Dabo, the band floats above the average. Not that the songs without the vocals of Tina are bad, because dance floor fillers like ‘Star’ and ‘Ever’ got their potential as well. However, if you listen to beautiful emotional songs like ‘In My Eyes’, ‘Silent Scream’, ‘Cry’ and the instrumental ‘Sleep’ you know that they make the difference. | |
Best song however is ‘Kreatur (Fahr Zur Hölle…)’. It starts with a quiet intro and is slowly taken over by a catchy electro beat. Especially the combination with the slightly distorted voice of Matthias shows that PLASTIC is more than the average electro pop or dark wave band. The well-performed cover of The Human League’s ‘Being Boiled’ combined with the darker ‘Beloved’ prove that this band has got the ability to create some different, but pleasant music. “[kunst]:Stoff” is a good start for these Germans.
