MEGADUMP has moved into a new direction. Still catchy, but there are more experimental structures in their songs. If you listen to opener ‘The Face Behind’ you hear the influence of an act like Apoptygma Berzerk. The first thing you hear as well is that Müller has that typical German accent when he sings in English. Normally not a huge problem, but if your voice is on top of the music it becomes a problem. Most of the songs keep that danceable beat we hear from the first song on. Therefore the album doesn’t have too many highlights, it just keeps that same up-tempo dance feeling. | |
However, if you listen to the compositions it gets a little boring, because MEGADUMP never becomes better than average. The best songs are the quiet and in German sung ‘Welt Aus Glas’, the danceable hit potential ‘Home’ and the heavier ‘Life Bizarre’. Most emotional is the ballad ‘Heartbeat’, that shows that MEGADUMP can write and perform some fragile music as well. It’s not enough to save the record though. (Beautevil) |
