Headlining the Dutch stage at Ozzfest was one of the climaxes of Agresión’s musical career and this new album might be their next one. Agresión is a band from Venezuela that was founded in 1995 by Alejandro Londońo and his brother Juan Manuel de Ferrari. After touring with Sepultura, playing on big festivals and winning a big-band contest, the brothers decided to expand their horizons and move to The Netherlands. In The Netherlands bassist Marcel Capell and drummer Jasper Dankaart joined the band to form the final lineup.
“Our culture has gotten blurry to the eyes of our sons”. Agresión is a band with a message. Cultura 3 has been inspired by the situation in Venezuela. It is a very poor country and the situation gets worse by the day. People are suffering and there’s nothing that Agresión can do about that. This album deals with those sad and powerless feelings. | |
Cultura 3 is the band’s second full-length album on 4Tune Records and is produced by Zlaya Hadzich (The Gathering, Sonic Youth). Just like their debut album “Sur” this new album is a nice collection of nu-metal songs. Agresión fuses heavy metal riffs with hiphop and hardcore influences into groovy songs. The first song of the album “Forget” begins with an acoustic intro and flows over into a heavy and varied song. Then Agresión opens the throttle and races like a maniac. The last song (except for the bonustrack) “My Sin” featuring Remi Tjon Ajong of Green Lizard is a mellow closing of a nice and decent nu-metal album. Maybe not all songs have their own identity (a couple of songs sound too much alike), but this album is still a good release and will strengthen Agresión’s position in the (Dutch) nu-metal scene.
