Perhaps the true heavy metal fans know Absolute Steel, but for me “The Fair Bitch Project” is the first release I’ve ever heard from this threesome. The band members K2, Andy Boss and Dave Bomb are responsible for this well-played release full of American oriented heavy metal (like the early Kiss or Van Halen and Whitesnake). The whole sounds very cliche, but the guitar riffs and rolling bass drums sound as they’re supposed to. Vocally K2 sounds like a combination of Bruce Dickinson in the lower regions and in the higher regions he can compete with the better vocalists in this genre (like our old friend Rob H. only less high). The guitar solos are in the right parts of the songs like in “Smooth And Shaved” for instance. Dave Bomb sounds like an Eddy Van Halen in this song. | |
The only thing that really annoyed me were the subjects of the songs. With choruses like: “I’m Too Good In Bed”, or “Spread Your Legs”, you cannot really impress me. Perhaps it has something to do with the image of the band. The nice thing about this band is that they also invented their own game on their website, www.absolutesteel.com, on which you can get some information on how to nail a groupie or how to handle a fight. In the booklet there’s even some space left to create your own band members. The last things I want to share with you about this release are; I do not know who is responsible for the tight drum playing, and I really would like to see them live performing in their steel suits, hats and strange heavy metal outfits. Not. (Teun) |
