“Down to Earth” is the first release of this new Dutch metal project featuring (ex-)members of Road Kill, Maleficium and Threnody. Fact is that these four lads succeeded in recording a very diverse progressive metal release with the Ayreon and Avantasia projects as inspiration, although their sound is slightly different and mainly based on guitar cords. Songs as “Undefined Emotions” with nice double guitar parts or “Down To Earth” contain very good ideas only they needed some extra attention before recording.

I sometimes got the feeling that the riffs are pasted together and there wasn’t really a general theme that returns a few times in a song. Therefore they didn’t really stick in my head. Besides that the production, in this genre, is very bad and hasn’t got any balls at all. The drum computer also did not really impress me and the vocals are unconvincing. This certainly is a band with nice ideas, and good musicians, but without proper equipment and song material. Perhaps the future will tell us more.
