“God Was Created” is the second album of this brutal death metal band based in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. And by brutal death metal, I don’t mean just fast and simple raging death metal but intelligent and structured death metal songs with some thrash metal influences also. From the first track “Made For Her Jesus” until the last one “The Lord’s Work” you can expect enormously well-played varied brutal death metal songs filled with a large amount of harmonies and deep grunting vocals by Nathan Gearhart, who is also responsible for the pretty sick lyrics on this album.
Music-wise “God Was Created” is an excellent album with tracks like “She Never Noticed Me” with beautiful acoustic guitars by Bjorn Dannov, who is also responsible, together with his colleague guitar-player John Chavez, for the chilling guitar leads in the tracks “I Didn’t Kill Her” and “I Must Not Live”, “Fantasy From Pain” and “Lusting For Affection” with outstanding drumming by Andy Schroeder and not to forget bass-player Mark Kozuback who backs up the lead vocalist with violently pitched screams throughout the entire album, which adds even more dynamics to an already intense song structured album.

Maybe it’s best, if you want, to compare Vehemence with an extremely brutal equivalence of a band like Opeth. I wonder if any band can top Vehemence’s “God Was Created” this year……Excellent one.
