Put on your dancing shoes and go, go, go!!!

After a short intro, appropriately called ‘Startup’, we are urged to move to undeniable electro pop songs. We can’t call this EBM, because Sascha Mario Klein (the one and only NEUROTICFISH) declared it dead and to be honest if he makes a statement like that you just have to believe him. Most songs got a pleasant combination of up-tempo – almost drum ‘n bass - beats, beautiful vocals and catchy song structures.

Don’t think it’s all happiness though, because the lyrics are not as pleasant as you might expect when you only listen to the music. Lyrics about the dark side of relationships, emotional dependences and their effect are not typical happy issues.

It’s difficult to talk about highlights because everything offered on this record definitely has a high standard. Listen to songs like ‘Wake Me Up’, ‘Modulator’ or ‘Prostitute’ and you know what is happening on this “Les Chansons Neurotiques”.

Even when the tempo is brought down a bit – like in ‘Darkness/Influence’ – the music still has that catchy feeling to it. The almost quiet – almost instrumental - ‘Stop & Go’ gives some time to reflect on things and the melancholic ballad ‘Inverse’ transports you further into this neurotic journey. This could be intellectual music for the masses…
