“As always FEINDFLUG will remain tough in its thematic processing of problems – direct and above all, double-edged. Don’t forget to turn on your brain every once in a while! Sometimes the truth hurts! Why should we make it easy for you? Use your brain and think about it!”
(FEINDFLUG)
FEINDFLUG is one of those controversial German industrial bands. That can be expected when you use topics like the Second World War, samples from spoken German words and marching boots (‘Suchatzki Marsch’). It’s therefore easier to put this band in a right wing perspective than listening to what the band really has to offer with an open mind. With “[Hirnslacht]” the band seem to have taken some distance from the topic of WWII, although you could easily understand otherwise. That’s the strength of FEINDFLUG, without actual lyrics the band still got the ability to make you wonder what they mean with a song. | |
Song titles like ‘Menschenjagd’ (‘people hunt’), ‘Sturmwalze’ (‘storm waltz’, with a known organ theme) and ‘Kopfschuss’ (‘headshot’) give reason enough to doubt this band.
If you however go deeper into this you will find a whole other world. FEINDFLUG is devastating, brutal and controversial. From the opening sirens on ‘Glaubenskrieg’ “[Hirnslacht]’ proves to be a real killer album. Brilliant beats mixed with drums, guitar and samples. In every way FEINDFLUG has grown and that’s remarkable if you notice the limited possibilities music like this normally has. This is undeniably the best industrial release of 2002 so far.
