DISMANTLED originally started as a project to come as close as possible to the sound of Frontline Assembly. After overwhelmingly positive feedback, Gary Zon realised there was more in it for him than only being a shadow of an act like FLA.

Still, the debut album of DISMANTLED is definitely influenced by the big example. The feeling and sound are alike. Even the voice of Gary shows that Bill Leeb has competition. Although all the elements (a complex mix of layered electro industrial merged with trance elements) are present, DISMANTLED has a heavier approach than the latest offering of FLA.

Especially a song like ‘Survivor’ proves that.

So, although you can’t speak of a very original release, “Dismantled” definitely has class. This reinventing of an older sound is strong enough to keep this release out of the category ‘copycat’, but hopefully Gary will find some different inspiration as well…
