It`s always hard to rate a true noise album. What do you base your judgement on? Diversity? Harshness? Production? With Napalmed, the same rules and limitations apply as with any other power electronics band: these are not the kinds of CDs you would pop in at any time of the day, but rather when you’re in a specific mood or specific state of mind. The question is: how effective is the album in such a state of mind?

Looking at the album title (translated: "never mind MSBR, here is Napalmed"), it is clear that these guys are putting themselves in the same league as MSBR. Taking a close listen, I can understand why that is so: there are plenty of similarities, especially in the heads-on full-frontal noise attack that is complemented by sounds/samples and vocals/screams.

With the second track, this approach changes: a much more easy and relaxed take on constructing a song out of sounds and beats. Very ambientesque, and not at all comparable to MSBR - or at least not to the work I own.

Even though plenty of instruments and samples are used, I still think the 59 minutes this song runs is a little too long - after a 20 minute span I got the feeling I`d heard enough. Nonetheless, true fans of ambientesque music might definitely get their kicks from this. I`d recommend it to those people; MSBR fans might want to give this a spin first before making a hasty decision.
