“Thriving On Carnage” is the debut MCD of this Dutch death metal/grindcore formation, and a fast one it is. In less than seventeen minutes Desensitised rages through the entire seven track mini-album, and kicks off with “Flock” which is fast, combined with some comical thrash metal parts as well and filled with aggressive vocals done by Steven Vaassen accompanied by guitar-player Susan Gerl with some deep grunting vocals.
With tracks like “Miscloned” which is about some mixed up DNA structures, “Masochistic Masculinity”, “Cover Up” and “Sacred Slaughter” you can expect a simple but infectious kind of extreme death metal with some grindcore elements incorporated as well. | |
Don’t expect varied songs and that’s the bad side of this album; Most of the songs sound alike. When you listen to this album the first time you’ll notice that you have heard this kind of songs at least a dozen times before. I know it’s hard to be innovating but stop with gratuitously copying your inspirators. (Gerlach) |
