After Strait Up, this is the 2nd album in dedication to Snot’s vocalist Lynn Strait, who died December 11, 1998, in a car accident. Snot was probably one of the most talented and respected bands in the Californian music scene. The remaining band members are now playing in bands like Soulfly, Amen and the Start. Snot was based in Santa Barbara, but soon played shows in Los Angeles where they headlined shows with support acts like (Hed)P.E. and System Of A Down.
Alive! documents Snot’s explosive Hollywood concert in 1998, only a few months before the tragic death of their singer. | |
The band’s guitarist Mike Doling has produced the album and thanks to a few overdubs it sounds very good. Songs like “Joy Ride” and “Absent” show their talent for making a perfect blend of punkrock and metal. The album also features a previous unreleased track called “Choose What” and a live video of “Joy Ride”.
Hopefully these Snot releases won’t end up like that moneymaking business called Sublime, because Lynn deserves better. A recommendation for the fans, but also for the people who missed their stunning debut album “Get Some”! (Dennis) |
