French storm troopers of extreme black/death metal Antaeus return to the frontline of international underground audio violence with their second full-length album De Principii Evangelikum. Picked up a while ago by well-known Osmose Productions they have been given the chance to produce a CD with a considerably better production and distribution than their debut Cut Your Flesh And Worship Satan. With this album they certainly will get a lot of attention because it is extreme to the bone!

Not only musically but in appearance and lyrical content as well, these French misanthropes push back the boundaries of decency and civilised behaviour.

It’s an ongoing assault of frantic drumming, frenzied guitar riffs and demonic vocals. Put Sadistik Exekution together with Immortal (the vocals) and you’ll get an idea of what Antaeus stands for. The thing I dislike the most about this album is its rather short length; 28 minutes isn’t exactly “full length”, but then again, better half an hour of good music than an hour of boredom.

They were supposed to do a European tour in November supporting Deicide but unfortunately their part in it has been cancelled. Hopefully they’ll get their chance for revenge because Antaeus promises to be quite a spectacle in the live environment.
