Sometimes you realize how stupid it is to put labels on music. Emocore is the modern day hype for music that doesn’t exist. Emotion is everywhere in music and this CD is the best possible way to prove that. Katie Jane Garside (ex-Daisy Chainsaw) is releasing some demons on this one. Her hysteric voice and attitude are a combination of PJ Harvey and Marilyn Manson on their darkest days. The heavy guitar riffs from Crispin Gray complete the madness on this CD.

The result is neurotic, oppressing and impressive. Whether it’s the power of opener ‘Pretty Like Drugs’, the aggressive ‘Kitty Collar Tight’ or the more laidback ‘Razorblade Sky’ and ‘Sleeping Pill’ (with an almost dreamlike voice from KJ Garside), this album is filled with moody emotions.

The absolute angry heaviness during ‘A Bed Of Roses’ should wake up every heavy rocker. Goodnight Kittie and – even – goodnight My Ruin, they definitely look like pussies compared to this one.

‘My Silent Undoing’ sounds almost like a song you want to hear just before you go to sleep and that’s the quality of QUEEN ADREENA (although the band nowadays seem to write their name as queenadreena), because every time when you think you have caught the mood, they change into something different. It only strengthens the feeling that you can’t capture this band in any musical direction.

“Can I show you this state of mind, for it is not mine…” (‘Siamese Almeida’)
This says it all…
