He did it again! Every time I’ve seen this man live, it gets me by the balls; this man is living and breathing the blues from his fingertips to his throat. And now they have succeeded to catch this live on CD. This could only have been possible with straight recording, without overdubs. This direct approach gives an honest, and dedicated atmosphere. Julian Sas is an energetic, and devoted performer, but his job would not have been possible without the outstanding solid, and reliable basis of Pierre de Haard (drums) and Tenny Tahamata (bass), who give maximum support.

This live CD can be seen as a “best of” compilation from the former five albums. A selection of up-tempo boogie rockers, to a few pearls of ballad-like slow blues songs.

Especially live you can hear several influences, from S.R.V., and Peter Green, to Gary Moore, and even some Jimmy Page. Sometimes a little spontaneous speeding up, as the best musicians can do, when they’re really in the mood. Some beautiful improvisations in the heat of the moment during the solos, but never stranding in endless fiddling ‘round. Not every note by the book, but straight from the heart. Small “mistakes” can sometimes lead to the better final result. Never seen Julian Sas live? Experience maximum blues (rock) and decide whether this one will grow and get his place in the ranks of the great blues masters.
