Back where it all started. Boy, those seventies were great! Listening to this record, is bringing back youth sentiment. Lenny Kravitz, eat your heart out, this is how it’s supposed to sound. And that coming from ex-Carcass and Napalm Death founder Bill Steer (guitar), assisted by Ludwig Witt (Spiritual Beggars) and Leo Smee (Cathedral). Maybe a way to let their former younger fans know, that even in those days they knew how to rock!
The first track coming out of the speakers with screaming Jimi H guitar, and its even like you can hear Mitch Mitchell on drums. Listening closer you can hear song structures reminding of Free, Allman Brothers, Cream and the earlier mentioned Jimi Hendrix. | |
Musically it’s a seventies rock revival with blues influences and balls. The vocal melodies remind of a mix between Cream and Faith no More. Nice detail to stay with the seventies: this one is also available on vinyl.
Being a musician myself I can enjoy hearing that these folks know how to do their thing, but I can imagine some people judging this as “over the top”. Sometimes this album reminds you of a Dream Theatre interpretation of the seventies. All in all a technical high quality album, and most musicians with seventies roots will love it.
