Hell-Born was formed in 1996 by Baal en Les, who were involved with Behemoth and Damnation at that time. They released a mini CD and then it became silent. In the year 2000 Jeff joined the band and after a few months they went to the studios to record five brand new songs. These songs as well as the mini CD can be found on Hellblast.
Normally I get a blessed feeling when I listen to a black/death album. With Hellblast this is unfortunately not the case. There are some nice parts on this album, but in general it’s not devastating. The vocals, somewhere between grunt and scream, don’t say much to me and musically it is also not too well, although I heard a guitar solo on the album that wasn’t too bad. | |
Tracks as ‘The Victory’ or ‘Follow The Beast’ are not bad, but something is missing. It could be the lack of great musicianship or that there is no trace of originality.
More and more black/ death metal bands rise from the ethereal pits of the underworld. De fan can choose between many great bands and this is a luxury. Hell-Born have to practice a lot before they can compete with these great bands. Until that time there are far more interesting bands to listen to. (Pieke) |
