Astronomicon is a combination of progressive and fantasy metal. WITHOUT FACE shows once again that there’s a lot of beautiful music in Eastern Europe (this time it’s from Hungary).
Musically Dream Theatre heavily influences the band. Listen to the instrumental parts during “Weird Places” and “Pit And Pendulum” for instance. If you listen to the sound of the guitar, keyboard and drums it all sounds so alike. The band however gets away with it, because the quality of musicianship is as high as that from the U.S. example.
WITHOUT FACE thank their fantasy qualification to the high, almost opera like, female voice of Julie in combination with the voice of András. | |
He combines grunt with a clear – impressive – voice.
Astronomicon is a pleasant journey in a not so pleasant world. That the CD only contains six songs in 44:18 minutes shows that the band likes long, but always well written and performed, songs. If you like acts like Rhapsody (but not so bombastic), Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation and/ or – of course – Dream Theatre, then you have to check this WITHOUT FACE out… (Beautevil) |
