Wow, this is massive... Both production and guitar sound. FILTER is back in town and with The Amalgamut they released the perfect combination between their two earlier albums (Short Bus and Title Of Record).
The heavy guitars, the intensive drums and the energetic bass in combination with samples during songs like “You Walk Away”, “American Cliché” and “Columind” bring you back to their first album. Songs like the new single”‘Where Do We Go From Here”, “The Only Way (Is The Wrong Way)” and the ballad “The Missing” remember of the days of Title Of Record.
Still, the band is not copying, but created a typical FILTER CD. | |
It’s their best release so far. Not because the band is renewing itself, but because the band have found perfect harmony between and heavy and soft. Another remarkable point is that the band is having pleasure. It just blows out of your speakers.
Most importantly is that Richard Patrick, the man behind the wheel and the man with the voice, leaves (more) space for his fellow members. Although he still has a short emotional fuse, it seems to work wonderfully well during this record. FILTER shows to be in a perfect shape to conquer the world. Powerful industrial metal, but at the right times the band takes a step back into the commercial world. (Beautevil) |
