Made for the night… that’s absolutely true. The intro ‘Abenddämmerung’ starts with a choir and is a slow, but deeply moody, start for what will come… A German speaking, slightly distorted, male voice mixed with distant moody electronics. The result is a combination of electro and darkwave you don’t hear too often. Menacing (like during ‘Mitten In Der Nacht’), danceable (listen to ‘Tiefenstille’ and ‘Keine Träume’ for instance) music that sometimes moves in the dark regions of industrial (‘Zwei Wege’).
One of the best tracks that makes MONDSUCHT so special is ‘Schwarzes Herz’. This song is devastating for depressive souls. The electronics have an organic feel to them and the man behind the microphone is so impressively depressed that this emotion (or the lack of emotion he’s singing about) could mean suicide for those who are weak of heart. | |
It sometimes sounds like the band is using drum kettles, but it’s probably all electronic what we hear… The fact that it makes you wonder if the band is using different instruments says enough of the quality that this threesome (Olaf K., Robert N. and Astrid M.) is giving us. Finally a band again that uses electro in a dark emotional manner without looking to the commercial (dance) scene. That earns respect… (Beautevil) |
