The first thing you do when hearing opener “End Connection” is checking if there’s a Young Gods connection. The somewhat hoarse monotone voice of Frank Ackermann and the music resemble them enough to make you wonder. JAILBIRD have some influences from acts like Prong and Godflesh as well, but the music sounds more industrial rock orientated. The repeating industrial beats take some time to fall into place. …Inside Nonsense got mostly that same pounding beat, but if you take enough time to listen to this CD the music will open up to you. The heavy guitar riffs are supported by detailed changing samples. Although “End Connection” is about the connection between men and machine the band seem to escape the lyrics typical of a traditional industrial rock band. | |
It’s darker demons that take over the music during …Inside Nonsense. Like in “Go Insane”, with: ‘When the sun is leaving the sky for a better end, find a place in your heart to remember your mortality’ or during “Majestic Sacrifice”: ‘You want to take control of the urge that is burning, only love can fill the emptiness of your soul’. The fact that the band even have a song sung in French again reminds of the Young Gods, but if your band is associated with the names above you made a more than impressive debut. (Beautevil) |
