AUTUMN CLAN proves that there’s a healthy melancholic rock scene in Austria. The music of this foursome reminds mostly of the German End Of Green, BloodflowerZ (without female voice) and sometimes Life Of Agony during their Ugly period.
Although Jens P. Hermann doesn’t always sound secure, he’s got a good voice when he keeps it within his (present-day) reach. The problem is that Jens sometimes just wants too much and that’s a shame because the potential is surely there. On the other hand, his emotional voice makes the difference with other bands and he is sometimes the connection to Life Of Agony (and Keith Caputo). | |
Songs like “Dream Sequence”, “Abuse Me”, “Symphony Of Sadness” and “Hate Tunes” show the power of AUTUMN CLAN. It’s a combination of melancholic (gothic) rock and grunge. Therefore this album could attract a lot of people. The complete album is in fact good enough to compete with the current rock scene. If the band shows growth in writing and performing songs AUTUMN CLAN could be the next Anathema. Don’t say that you haven’t been warned. (Beautevil) |
