What’s this on Sven’s doormat? Sepultura’s Chaos DVD! Time to put on a whig and start the metal maniac head banging once again. In his mind he’s back in the day in 1994 when he heard ‘Refuse/Resist’ for the first time. After all these years ‘Chaos’ AD is still one of Sven’s most favourite albums.
Now almost 10 years later Roadrunner records decided to make some extra profit of the old (good selling) Sepultura stuff. They released the Sepultura Choas DVD that contains three other videos of Sepultura with Max Cavalera. The videos on the DVD are ‘Under Siege’ (1991), ‘Third World Chaos’ (1995) and ‘We Are What We Are’ (1997). They where released in support of the albums ‘Arise’, ‘Chaos AD’ and ‘Roots’.
The first video contains Sepultura’s live concert ‘Under Siege’. Recorded in Barcelona on the 31st of May in 1991. It’s got short interviews with the band members in-between the songs. Amongst which Sven found the brilliant ‘Arise’ and ‘Troops Of Doom’.
The second video ‘Third World Chaos’ released in support of the ‘Chaos AD’ album features some live songs. | |
Sven’s favourites are ‘Orgasmatron’ and ‘Politicia’. Third World Chaos also has some video clips. Including ‘Arise’, ‘Refuse/Resist’ and ‘Inner Self’.
A novelty is the clip of Sepultura and Yello Biafra performing a version of the Dead Kennedy’s song ‘Holiday In Cambodia’. Although the recording is not of the highest quality it sure is fun to watch.
‘We Are What We Are’ was released in support of the Roots album. It contains the videos ‘Roots Bloody Roots’, ‘Ratamahatta’ and ‘Attitude’.
The songs start off with the band telling something about the video clips and the motivation behind the songs.
Sven must say this DVD makes a nice collector’s item for all the old (and new) metal heads that favour the old Sepultura. Sven certainly enjoyed the ‘Under Siege’ video the most. Over an hour of old Sepultura at their best certainly brought Sven back to his roots for a while.
