Lost tapes from 1990, recorded with Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick), came back into possession of the rightful owner at the price of 5000 dollars in 1997. Last year it was decided to use the demo tapes for recording a new album. The original tape was meant to be a low budget 3-track tape, but turned out into 12 track-album with a studio bill of 100.000 dollar back in 1990. When such a tape is used as a basis for a new album you expect something huge.
Huge it is: lots of added (orchestral) instruments and overdubs. | |
Sometimes it’s better to stick to the basic, honest product. This is an example of how to ruin songs by re-arranging, overdubbing and polishing. All songs have lost their original strength, drown in sweetness and sound artificial. Adam Bomb is a skilled guitarist, and his fellow musicians are of high quality, but these recordings do no justice to the capabilities of this bunch. The songs could have been average American mean stream, but overproduction has killed the final result.
