The combination between electronics, guitar, violin and the voice of Rogue still works wonderfully well. At first it seems that The Crüxshadows haven’t progressed too much, but the first few songs are deceiving.

Wishfire is better produced than their previous albums (although “The Seraphs” and “Orphean Wing” still have that annoying and simple keyboard sound underneath it, we know so well from them). The real growth of the band is during songs like “Spectators”, “Go Away”, “Earthfall”, “Carnival” with its combination of male/female vocals, “Resist/R” with its electronic dance tunes and the spoken “Roman”.

These songs have different song structuring than we are used from The Crüxshadows. This doesn’t mean that the rest of the album isn’t good, but the earlier mentioned songs have something special. The other tracks are all in the category of good performed, well-written and catchy electronic wave songs. Typically enough, that is exactly what we expect from this band.
