This record starts of quite well. Opening track “Return The Compliment” starts with a break and then immediately turns into stomping hardcore. But then the tempo changes and Awkward Thought’s biggest weakness emerges. Singer John Franco’s timing is off. When the band plays straight up Oi! He’s fine but as soon as the tempo changes he loses it.

Apart from that the rest of the band aren’t the tightest musicians either. This debut is aimed a little too high. They’re about to do a European tour. This will give them the chance to become tighter. I hope they will because mid tempo songs like “Required Contributions” are very promising.
