Together with their new compilation DVD, Roadrunner offers us this promotional CD for their upcoming Roadrage Tour. This tour will visit our little country halfway November (013 Tilburg and Melkweg Amsterdam) and will provide us three bands: Killswitch Engage, 36 Crazyfists and Five Point O.
This compilation starts with Killswitch Engage (KSE), who please our ears with their stunning mixture of Swedish metal and hardcore. Both “My Last Serenade” and “In The Unblind” are featured on this promo. “My Last Serenade” is an amazing song, which evolves from a serene intro into one of the best new school hardcore tracks I’ve ever heard and then ends like it began: in pure beauty. KSE also has a new singer: Howard Jones (ex Blood Has Been Shed). I hope he’s at least as good as the old vocalist Jesse Leach, because he was of surplus value to the band.
36 Crazyfists is the second band on this promo. | |
They were discovered by Skinlab and offer us a nice popular metal sound (think of Deftones and the new Skinlab) with a vocalist with a ‘very’ strange voice. Is he a sheep and a monkey? You just have to listen yourself. They offer us “Turns To Ashes” and “Crutch”. You either love it or hate it.
The last band is Five Point O. This band blends metal core and nu metal. It’s hard to have a sound of your own nowadays and they are just one of those bands who are still looking for an own identity. I’ll advise them to just keep on looking; hopefully they’ll find it soon.
This Roadrage sampler is Roadrunner’s way of promoting their upcoming tour. A music video from each of these three bands has also been added to the CD-ROM part. Just in case you haven’t seen their latest video on MTV.
