A double live album from this German master guitarist. A traditional one, including drum and keyboard solos, and of course extended guitar parts from the man himself. Full-length versions including sing-alongs, which involve the audience. Without a doubt a real live album, since both the vocals and the guitars are quite out of tune at times. Admirable that in these times of modern technology, the possibility of overdubs is not used. The final product is honest, but if it’s really satisfactory, I wonder. | |
Pity for the choice of opener “Edge Of The World”, from the album Shadow Zone (great song), which immediately confronts the listener with these out of tune vocals. Once again, even live Axel Rudi Pell proves to be best at the beautiful ballads, listen to “The Clown Is Dead” with a phenomenal soulful solo. The real fans of Mr. Pell will appreciate this album, but the critical listener will need earplugs at times.
