First of all, when I listened to this CD for the first time: wish I had been there. Uli Jon Roth, a phenomenal guitarist, former member of Scorpions and founder of Electric Sun, performing live at Castle Donington. Opening with a beautiful instrumental and then sharing the stage with Michael Schenker, Phil Mogg, and Pete Way to play some UFO classics. The advantage of two very skilled guitarists becomes clear in some twin solo pieces with a sharp edge. Although it is not always perfectly played, this straight recording gives a good impression of the atmosphere and conviction. It makes me wonder what the DVD is like with all the emotions on stage.

Then another icon in rock history: Jack Bruce is joining the stage for some Cream and Jimi Hendrix songs. In the heat of the moment the performance is again not always precise or correct, but what a great time all those people must have had. This being an incidental line up with probably little or no rehearsing, you cannot expect a well-oiled machine. Some other names of this line up: Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull) on drums, and Don Airey (Deep Purple) on keyboards. A must for the people who were there, for all the others: just expect a lot of atmospheric impressions and nostalgia.
